Star Child
magic shoes for happy feet
I trained at J.H. Clarkes shoes factory in Leicester working as a design apprentice. This factory specialised in womens shoes and made all of their own components which gave me a great foundation in shoes making. I later moved to London and worked with various fashion designers making shoes for their catwalk shows.
Helen Storey, Katherine Hamnett, Nick Coleman and mainly with Vivienne Westwood. I made Westwoods famous "Rocking horse shoes",
elevated platforms and many other fabulous designs.
Family commitments made me move back to Leicestershire where I worked freelance with various shoe factories in the area, including W.J. Brooks where I was called in to design a range of fetish boots, this factory was the original idea for the film Kinky Boots
After the birth of my son, I made him some baby shoes, they were purple with yellow stars. Originally we sold them under my own label Inch-Blue and then with a partnership which ended. I decided to continue with baby shoes and formed a new brand Starchild.
The designs soon became hugely popular so along the years a team of skilled workers were needed. We now have over 20 workers and make a great team, collectively we have over 300 years of footwear experience!
