Bark Cloth to Art Shoes project

Starchild Owner and designer Janet Middleton teamed up with textile artist Bobby Britnel to help Bobby's charity http://www.handsupforuganda.org/ for sustainable development in a very poor part of Uganda.

The project involves using Ugandan bark cloth (yes tree bark made into a textile in a traditional way).

Over 100 textile artists decorated the barkcloth in their unique own styles, then Janet transformed these peices into our Art shoes.

Here is our video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evp2CqE4_z4&feature=youtu.be

Including well known textile artists Jan Beaney, Jean Draper, Jean Littlejohn, Ruth Issett, Kim Thittichai and many more.

The completed project was exhibited at the NEC and also at Excel recently at the Creative Stitches and Embroidery show.

The final stage is to auction the shoes (all unique one off pieces) for the charity.

Janet documented the project here https://www.facebook.com/barkcloth2artcloth
